Delete your account

October 2, 20263 min read

You can delete your ZeniaCare account and the medical data held with it at any time, from inside the app or by writing to us. This page explains how, what is removed, and what we are required to keep.

1. Delete from inside the app

This is the fastest route and takes effect immediately.

  • Open the ZeniaCare app and go to the Profile tab.
  • Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
  • Confirm when asked. The account and its data are removed and you are signed out.

There is no waiting period and no confirmation email. Once you confirm, the data is gone.

2. Delete without the app

If you have already uninstalled ZeniaCare, or cannot sign in, email us and we will delete the account for you.

support@zeniacare.in — subject line Delete my account. Write from the email address the account uses, and include your Zenia ID if you have it.

We reply within 2 working days and complete the deletion within 30 days of the request. We may ask one question to confirm the request came from you; we will never ask for a password, because ZeniaCare accounts do not have one.

3. What is deleted

Everything tied to your account is removed:

  • Your profile: name, email address, phone number, address and Zenia ID.
  • Appointments and visit history, including cancelled requests.
  • Medical records, diagnoses and prescriptions held in your account.
  • Lab reports and documents, including the uploaded files themselves.
  • Fitness entries: steps, calories, active minutes, weight and goals.
  • Your profile photo, if you set one.
  • Your sign-in identity, so the email address can no longer be used to reach the account.

Deletion is permanent. We cannot restore a deleted account, and creating a new account with the same email address does not bring the old data back.

4. What we are required to keep

A small amount of information survives deletion, because Indian law requires it or because it no longer identifies you:

  • Clinical records a doctor is obliged to retain. Where a registered practitioner has treated you, medical council rules require them to retain their own copy of that record. It stays with the practitioner, not in your account, and is kept for 3 years from the last entry.
  • Financial and tax records for any payment made, retained for 8 years as required by Indian tax law.
  • Aggregated statistics that carry no name, contact detail or identifier, such as counts of appointments booked in a month.
  • Security and abuse logs, kept for 180 days as required under the Information Technology Act rules.

5. Backups

Encrypted backups are kept on a rolling 30 day cycle for disaster recovery. A deleted account may persist in those backups until the cycle rotates past it, after which it is gone. Backups are never used to restore an individual account and are not readable by our staff in the ordinary course of work.

6. Questions

If you are unsure whether to delete, or want a copy of your data first, write to support@zeniacare.in before deleting — once the account is gone we cannot produce an export of it.

For how we handle your information generally, see our Privacy Policy. For how it is protected, see Security. You can also reach us through the contact page.
